RESOLUTIONS

(a) Resolutions to be acted upon by the Convention shall be submitted in writing to the President of the
Association at least sixty (60) days in advance of the Annual Convention, and copies of such
resolutions submitted to all chapters at least twenty (20) days before the Annual Convention.

(b) In the case of extreme emergency, additional resolutions may be brought in on the first day of the
Convention, provided that they are presented by the delegate sponsoring the resolution and
accompanied by a statement of the emergency, and that a copy of the emergency resolution and the
cause of the emergency be published by the sponsor so that each delegate at the Convention will have a
copy at the time it is presented, and further provided that three-quarters (3/4) of the delegates present
vote submission of the proposed resolutions.

(c) The Resolutions Committee shall be responsible for tracking the status of all resolutions passed at a
Convention and provide written reporting to the membership, including who is responsible for acting
on the resolutions, what actions have been taken to date, and what the results of those actions have
been, at all quarterly council meetings and at the next Convention, until said resolutions are resolved.

 

New resolutions passed at the 2025 Annual Convention

Here’s a brief overview of the actions taken at Convention 2025:

Amendments

  • The Board of Directors’ Second Vice President position has been renamed Vice President of Member Development.
  • Retired members are now eligible to serve as Secretary or Treasurer.
  • If an Officer or Director retires during their term and has served at least one year, they may remain in their elected position until the end of their term.
  • Several article clean-ups were approved, including:
    • Retiree chapters are not entitled to chapter rebates.
    • Chapters are no longer required to conduct an annual audit.
    • Funds remaining after a chapter is abolished will be absorbed into the SEA general fund.
  • The Campaign for Public Good is no longer a standing committee.

Resolutions

  • The proposal to change the SEA name did not pass.
  • The proposal to remove the Pride Flag did not pass.
