Celebrating 85 Years of Service

The State Employees’ Association will celebrate 85 years of service on October 18, 2025, with elected delegates (Councilors and Chapter Presidents), and will be hybrid at the SEA offices and via Zoom.

This milestone event will honor the strength and unity of our union. The Annual Convention brings together members from across our union to share insights and work collectively toward the betterment of our community. It will provide a platform for meaningful discussions on resolutions, constitutional amendments, and our union’s overall objectives. This is an excellent opportunity to connect with fellow members and contribute to shaping the future of our union.

Delegates will receive a registration form via email.

The following Board of Directors positions will be elected at the Annual Convention:

President; First Vice President; Second Vice President; Secretary; Treasurer; three Director positions – State, i.e., Executive Branch, Judicial, NHRS, and PSU (three-year term); one Director position – State, i.e., Executive Branch, Judicial, NHRS, and PSU (remainder of two-year term); one Director position – State, i.e., Executive Branch, Judicial, NHRS, and PSU (remainder of one-year term);  one Retiree (three-year term); one Private Sector (three-year term); one County/Municipal (remainder two-year term); and one CCSNH (remainder two-year term).

Who are the SEA Board of Directors?

The State Employees Association of New Hampshire (SEA) is a non-profit organization that represents and protects the rights of unionized public workers here in NH. It is a self-governed union where the members themselves serve in the key leadership roles that shape the course and direction of the organization.

The Board of Directors is the executive body of the union, made up of elected members who attend to the business needs of the organization. The Board is structured to include a President, First Vice President, Second Vice President, a Secretary, a Treasurer, and several directors. Members of the Board are elected by their peers at the SEA’s Annual Convention or by special election if an office becomes vacant between conventions.

Many SEA members are not familiar with the different types of leadership positions that exist or how to serve in one of these roles. Becoming a union leader is not as hard or time-consuming as some may think. Some positions even have contractual leave time to attend monthly meetings.

Article Seven (VII) of the SEA Constitution establishes that the SEA has a Board of Directors that is made up of members from different SEA-represented agencies and public employers. The Board serves a very important role in overseeing and directing the SEA’s broader activities and policies. There is no special experience required to serve as a director.

How do I become a member of the SEA Board of Directors?

SEA Board of Director Positions are elected. The elections for these positions occur at either the annual SEA Convention or at a bi-annual SEA Council meetings. These meetings are held online, and members wishing to run for a position, such as Director, may attend the meeting remotely.
