Democratic Convention Receives Unions For All message

Members pose for a picture ahead of meeting with Mayor Pete Buttigieg.
About a dozen SEA/SEIU Local 1984 members plus staff united together at the NH Democratic Convention for one common goal: to share our Unions For All message with the presidential candidates, their staff and fellow Granite Staters. The day was a huge success as participants were eager to receive our message – we handed out hundreds of Unions for All T-shirts, buttons, signs, stickers within a few hours.
“Being able to join a union means better wages, affordable healthcare and this in turn creates stronger families and greater quality of life for all New Hampshire residents, ” said SEA president Rich Gulla. “That’s something that resonates with everyone.”
The Unions for All agenda centers on the belief that anyone, regardless of where they work or how much they are paid, should have the ability to join a union. SEA members proudly wore the Unions for All T-shirts and spoke to candidates, volunteers, convention guests and delegates about the correlation between strong unions and strong communities. Hundreds of participants at the convention showed their support for our message by incorporating our signs into their own visibilities.

Convention guests eagerly held our signs to support our core message: everyone should have the right to join a union.
Members were offered exclusive meetings with as many candidates as possible and by the end of the day met with seven campaigns: Julian Castro, Pete Buttigieg, Bernie Sanders, Steve Bullock, Tim Ryan, Amy Klobuchar, and Andrew Yang. Candidates were asked questions that mirrored the presidential candidate questions produced by the Political Education Committee and candidates were eager to share their thoughts on Janus and the importance of unions in America.
We strongly encourage you to wear your SEA purple to candidate events, identify yourself as SEA/SEIU Local 1984 members when speaking with candidates and use the questions developed by your member leaders as inspiration for dialogue with the candidates.
