Meeting will include special election for board seat; barbecue dinner planned
The next quarterly Council meeting of SEA/SEIU Local 1984 is set for Thursday, June 13, and will include a special election for two seats on the Board of Directors. The meeting will be held at the SEA office, and as has become a tradition, we’ll hold our annual barbecue for councilors beforehand.
The special election is being held to fill two seats: the private sector seat that went unfilled at convention last year, and the at-large seat that was left vacated when Mary Fields was elected First Vice President at that same convention.
There were no nominations for the private sector seat, but nominations can be made from the floor at the Council meeting. There were two nominations for the at-large seat:
- Dennis Etchells, Chapter 48
- Peter Brunette, Chapter 45
Dennis and Peter will each have their name printed on the ballot. Other members can be nominated from the floor, but would need to run as a write-in candidate.
Chapter presidents are reminded as always that Council meeting attendance is mandated by the SEA constitution. Attendance at all council meetings is very important, but especially so when elections are planned. We hope all will be able to join us.
