SEA files ULP on behalf of DOT workers

Union’s filing challenges recent reallocation of workers

On Tuesday, April 30, the SEA filed an unfair labor practice complaint on behalf of Department of Transportation workers impacted by the reallocation imposed by the department. In doing this, we believe they violated collective bargaining law by putting a medical card requirement in place – something that we’ve previously negotiated over, and on which we already have agreed upon language.

When the department imposed this reallocation, our sub-unit bargaining team was negotiating for a significantly better raise. We can’t allow the department and the state to sidestep the bargaining process. If we do, it takes away our bargaining power and hurts our ability to negotiate a real raise that would actually help with recruitment and retention.
