Before presenting the 2016 Charlie Stevens Award to Frank Wike, Chapter 6, President Gulla had the following to say:
“The Charlie Stevens Award is given to the Outstanding Chapter President. It is named after Charlie Stevens who served as chapter president of the Lakes Region Department of Transportation Chapter for many years.
This year’s recipient is very deserving of the Charlie Stevens Award.
This chapter president possesses the characteristics of a true leader. This chapter president inspires others and earns real respect and trust from members. This Chapter President clearly has not hesitated, under very adverse conditions, to work with the employer, has tried to build consensus, has tried to bend to make things better at a time of great adversity. This chapter president has mobilized members and politicians alike. They have worked very hard to unify their members. This Chapter President advocates for the members and doesn’t stop when the going gets rough.
This Chapter President has demonstrated the ideals all leaders strive to achieve.
I am proud to present this award to Frank Wike from Chapter 6. Chapter 6 represents our members from Hampstead Hospital. Frank, please come forward.”
